Update on Greenbrook Water Treatment Plant
Repairs at the Greenbrook Water Treatment are ongoing in the Region's oldest and most complex groundwater treatment plant. Due to a higher than anticipated amount of rain this summer, attempts to inspect the reservoir were delayed, and have since identified unforeseen repairs needed in the reservoir. This defers the completion timeline beyond the end of 2026. The additional 20 L/s of water capacity from Greenbrook is now anticipated to be available in 2027.

Following Regional Council's resolution to have the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) review the Region’s 10 year capital plan, staff worked with OCWA to provide information for their independent peer review. The review concluded the Region’s infrastructure plan is a reasonable approach to balancing renewal, reliability, and the timely delivery of new supply.
